| Dawson Yacht Carpentry sprang from the founder’s
love of boats and a growing demand for his expertise. During 1987-1989,
Brad Dawson built a cruising boat for his personal use. Using the
Bingham 28 design, Brad single-handedly lofted the plans, constructed the
molds, laid up the hull and deck structure, crafted the interior cabinets
and installed all the mechanical systems. As the project started
coming together, boat enthusiasts took notice of his craftsmanship and
soon requested he work on their yachts.
As work on his cruising boat was nearing completion,
Brad began accepting projects and subsequently his reputation as a skilled
boat carpenter grew rapidly. Soon his services were in high demand.
With so many projects in queue Brad put his cruise on hold and as they
say, “the rest is history”. To meet the growing demand for his services,
Brad founded Dawson Yacht Carpentry in a small portable building of a local
boat yard during 1989.
From those humble beginnings, Dawson Yacht
Carpentry has grown to be the premier woodworking shop on the Texas Gulf
Coast. With state-of-the-art woodworking machinery and expanded shop
space, we continue to meet the ever-increasing demands for our services
with the same high quality customers have come to expect. Along with
quality craftsmanship, we remain committed to customer satisfaction and
take great pride in our work. |
